The African American Military History Museum Tour Policy & Guidelines

•Admission is free. Donations are accepted. For large groups, donations are appreciated.

•Docent-guided and self-guided tours are available Wednesday-Saturday from 10AM-4PM and will last approximately 45 minutes to an hour. A Docent Guide is required for student groups of 10 or more.  All guided tours require a $1 per person fee.

•Please call to schedule tours at least two weeks in advance to ensure availability of desired date, time, and staff.

•Group leaders are asked to sign our guest book upon arrival.

•Name tags are encouraged for school groups. This allows the tour guide to interact with each student more effectively.

•We require a minimum of one chaperone per 10 students. Teachers, chaperones, and volunteers are responsible for student discipline. Please inform your adult volunteers to assist.

• Before entering the museum, please have large groups divided into smaller groups of 25. Each group will rotate touring the museum and watching Patriots to the End: The African American Soldier (approx. 22 minutes). Groups of younger children may prefer to visit the surrounding Memorial Garden and tank outside the museum. There is also a neighboring playground with picnic tables.

•Cancellations/Late arrival:
Please call (601-450-1942) as soon as possible if you must cancel your field trip. Also, please call if your group is running late. Reservations are held for 30 minutes. If you arrive after this time it may not be possible to provide a guide and/or your tour may be shortened.

•Special Needs:

Please let us know if anyone in your group requires special assistance. The Museum is accessible for those with wheelchairs or walkers. For students with learning disabilities, please arrange for a smaller group. This will allow docents to give each student the attention they deserve.

The Museum has a water fountain and restrooms in the lobby. As a courtesy to the tour guide, please have students take care of their needs prior to the beginning of their tour.

•Museum Gift Shop:

There are gift shop items for sale in the museum lobby. Please allow time for your group to make purchases.
